well i think i can give you the good, the bad, and the ugly about the C4 vettes..

Their suspension is the greatest part of these vettes, prior to the c4 the suspension hadn’t changed much since 1953.. the bad is they weren’t the best looking vettes with their more squared edges, and their motors weren’t the greatest (lower horsepower smog weezers) until they started with the LT5 in 1990 in the ZR-1 (your not going to find one of these vettes in good condition for cheap), the LT1 came in 92 which was a stout motor, then came the LT4 in 96 (only 1 year of production, and again not cheap). The ugly part of these vehicles is well like any vehicle from the 80s and early 90s depending on the climate it spent most of it’s life the frame could be rusted, and the interior tends to squeak, and the doors tend to droop..

The bright side, since even if you get one of the C4s prior to the LT motors they still had 350 small block motors that can make serious power given the parts and opportunity (especially if you swap an aluminum block motor in it really wakes the car up), the suspension is top notch, and to me they were the teenagers dream as i was a teen during the C4s production run

The only reason they are so cheap is because there are so many out there. Chevrolet built a lot of them, and the generation lasted from 1984-1996. 12 years! They are not as collectible as the previous generation and it isn’t hard to find one in good shape.

They are fun cars and many parts are available for them when something breaks or wears out. A lot easier and cheaper to fix than the older models, but it should not be looked at as an investment.
