I do not think that they can, only in dreams an, T V

  • mikey:

That is entirely dependent on gearing. Both transmission and rear end and tire size. It is not so unlikely.

  • Buffman:

I know for a fact with stock tires, and redline in place a c6 z06 will do 0-60mph in first gear. As for any other vette, it depends on gears, tires, transmission, redline, etc.

I doubt he started in 1st gear. He probably started in 2nd. As far as I know, only Lamborghinis can comfortably get to 60 in 1st gear.

I think you’d be surprised what many cars can do today. I drive a 6000lb truck that has a 0-60 time of under 7 seconds…stock.
These cars can achieve speeds that fast in a single gear but are not meant to be driven like that often. This is really pushing the rpm range to it’s max.

Oh the corvette will go faster than 60 in first gear, My 2002 camaro would go 0-60 in 1st gear. Probably most of the corvettes since the early 90’s will do 60mph in a 1st gear manual transmission.

Whats such a big deal about hitting 60 in 1st gear?

Some of yall just need to step away from the keyboard.

Its all about tire height, trans gear ratio, engine powerband and engine redline.

I dont have the vette’s gear ratio chart handy right now but its not that big of a deal.

In my camaro (not stock) when I ran a milder 500 HP engine and 3.42 gears, I didnt shift out of 1st gear untill 64 mph (0-60 in 3.4 seconds) , then didnt shift out of second untill 98 mph

With a diff (600 HP) engine, higher stall torque converter and 3.89 gears, I now shift out of 1st at 57 mph (0-60 in 3.0 seconds) and out of second at 95 mph
