How do you unbolt the visors on a 1988 Chevy Corvette?
Tһеrе іѕ a piece οf black plastic trim tһаt I аm trying tο detach аt tһе top οf tһе windshield. Bυt, tһе visors wіƖƖ חοt Ɩеt іt pull down. I аm wondering whether I һаνе tο unbolt tһе targa top tο bе аbƖе tο unbolt tһе visors. Anybody һаνе аחу suggestions οח һοw tο properly remove tһе visors?
If you don’t see any screws holding the visors that means they have plastic clips that will break if you try to remove them.
If the black plastic trim is held on with two phillips screws then yes, you need to remove them. It may be tight but you should be able to wiggle them loose from the other trim pieces they are tucked under. Then you may have a little bolt screwed onto the post of the visor or a round push on star type washer pushed onto the post. There is also a spring under the bolt/washer which is what puts the tension on the visors so they don’t swing all over the place. Remove the bolt and spring and wiggle the visor out or remove the star washer (you may have to use a pick-like tool to bend the teeth on the washer to remove it then bend them back when reinstalling it) and spring and remove the visor. When reinstalling the push on star washer it will take a little pressure since you have to put pressure on the spring to add the tension to the visor. Hope this helps.
