68 or 69 camaro z28 by far
By far the old muscle cars are the best. They are the easiest to add horse power.
69 Camero- I love that car!!!
If fixed up correctly, the old ones. What I mean by fixing up is hydraulics (car goes up and down), lots and lots of chrome, chrome 20+ inch rims and a good paint coat. However, this stuff can and will be costly, so if you are going to do this you should make sure you plan your purchases, etc.
1970 superbird
In my opinion, the old cars were the true muscle cars. The new breed of muscle cars are are too prissy to be called true muscle cars. YOU had to drive the old cars and had to have a bit more skill to keep them in line. The new cars have abs, air bags, computer controlled fuel systems etc. With the old cars, YOU had to tune them. It took skill and know how. It took real guts to hit 120 mph plus in one of those babies. One wrong move and they’d eat you alive. The new cars are designed to keep you out of trouble. The old ones were designed to see if you could keep yourself out of trouble. No frills, only guts and real glory! No chip changes here. You had to know how to fix and modify it yourself. I vote for the real thing. Hands on hot rods. 50s, 60s and very early 70s muscle cars. My favorite is the 427 Cobra. And you can ask Ferrari why.
it all depends on what you like… but it mostly boils down to looks. newer muscle go as fast or faster (once you disable EPA mandated limiters… ) and handle better, with better chasis and tighter suspension. but dodge, with the exception of the viper, just put EFI and hemis on all their old engines, so the old stuff IS better, and its better lookin too!!
The old muscle cars only cost a few bucks more than a conventional cars of that same era. Today’s muscle cars, for no more than a few mph more, are priced such that you could buy 3 conventional cars compared to the great cars of yesteryear.
On that basis alone, it is the oldies all the way.
OLD SCHOOL
1970 mustang mach 1 i love this BEASTT
P.S – Victoria you dont put hydralics or stupid big ass 20 inch chrome rims on a old school car thats just ugly and stupid, if you wanna do that buy a new car and ruin it…
i have to say.. that is a tough one!!
personally, i like VERY few of the old school muscle cars (by that i mean that there are very few that i would actually want to own myself) but i do enjoy looking at them at car shows..
i have a ‘63 impala.. that’s enough classic for me!! i love the old mustangs too.. and chevy’s.. the old charger & gtos were pretty cool..
but PERSONALLY i would prefer a newer muscle car over the older ones.. i absolutely am in love with the viper srt-10 and the new mustangs.. (roush & saleen only.. new cobra isn’t worth the money for what it is & how heavy it is!!) i also love the 03-04 cobras.. i like the speed & luxury..
the old ones are nice to look at, but for me, i’d make the car my daily driver, so i’d want a newer car with all the bells & whistles!!!!
`69 Hemi Super Bee
my definition of a muscle car is a car thats made of actual metal
corvettes the are more like coupes
the 69 camaro could probably beat the new mustang with a couple of tune ups
and do any of the new “muscle cars” sound like beast when coming down the road?
I may be dating my self, but here goes. I owned the 1971 SS 454 Chevelle, and the 71 454 Vette. To drive them was and is..Own the 71 Vette again now. The vibration of a big block is something that has to be experienced to appreciate.
Having said and lived that…the new cars do EVERYTHING better..except sound. It was stated that you could add HP to older cars easier. Well yes, as they did not have to fight the epa, but the new cars Vette, Viper, Hemi Charger, have more HP to the wheels off the showroom floor than any of those old cars and completely streetable with over 20 MPG. My SS on the highway could not break 10 MPG and the Vette could get 13.
Now, look at the “Look at me” part of driving the older muscle cars. No comparison go Classic. Drive every day…MAKE MINE THE VIPER!!
i like em all
